OUR FILMS

The Land is Waiting, a documentary film about a Roma family who strives to put all their 10 children through school. Filmed in the observational technique, the documentary presents the story of a Roma family who live off the land and who spare no effort of keeping the children in school. The story is centered on Mihai, who learns for the admittance exam at the Theological School in Iasi. With patience and empathy, Laurentiu Calciu, the film maker, gets close to Mihai who gradually opens up and talks about family, school, discrimination and life.

The film won several awards: Best Romanian Film at Sibiu FilmFest, 2004; Prix Nanook-Jean Rouch at the Bilan du Film Ethnographique, Paris 2005; Grand Prix and Best Director at Golden Wheel Film Festival, Skopje 2005.
